5 Free Playground Games for Kids
Keep the fun going at the playground with these five classic, no-cost games that encourage physical activity and social interaction:
Freeze Tag: One player is "It" and tries to tag the others. Once tagged, players must freeze in place. Another player can unfreeze them by tagging them, but if everyone is frozen, the game is over, and a new "It" is chosen.
Red Light, Green Light: One child is the traffic light and calls out "Green Light" for everyone to run and "Red Light" to stop. If anyone moves on a red light, they must go back to the start.
Hide and Seek: The classic game where one player closes their eyes and counts while the others hide. The seeker must find everyone, with the first found becoming the next seeker.
Capture the Flag: Split into two teams, each hiding a flag in their territory. The goal is to capture the other team’s flag and return it to your side without being tagged by opponents.
Hopscotch: All you need is some chalk to draw a hopscotch grid. Kids take turns tossing a small object onto a numbered square, hopping through the grid on one foot, and retrieving the object.
These playground games are perfect for encouraging kids to stay active, practice teamwork, and have a blast outdoors.
